Will I Go to Jail?
This is often the most pressing question for our South Carolina clients. No one wants to go to jail for one minute longer than absolutely necessary.
- Violent crimes: If you are convicted of a violent crime like assault, which often includes sex crimes, you must serve at least 85 percent of your sentence. Our job as your lawyers will be to negotiate and fight to have your charges dismissed or reduced to non-violent offenses so that your sentence is limited.
- Other Crimes: For all other crimes, like drug charges, traffic violations, white collar and juvenile crimes, South Carolina requires that you serve between only 1/3 and 1/2 of your total sentence.
